HGE-41 - Instructions and Installation Back to previous page Wiring for a Station Stop Option Wiring the HGE-41 This section will cover the wiring of the Alternater. A power source of 12 to 24 volts is required to operate the unit. Any standard power source and the used. A standard DC throttle is needed to operate the train. This DC throttle will control the speed which the train moves. The Alternater will reverse the train at the end of a section of track. Select the section of track where the Alternater will control the train and at each end of this track gap one rail. See the drawing below to better understand how to wire the trackage. Connect the throttle to the terminals of the Alternater and then wire from that Alternater to the track. Attach the power source to the board and and adjust the pots for the timing desired. Install the diodes as shown on the drawings. If the engine moves off the end of the trackage in either direction reverse the connections of that diode at that end of the track. Drawing A:
Once all wiring has been connected you can now begin to adjust the trim pots until the desired timing sequence has been achieved. At each powering of the unit allow a couple of sequence before the timing settles. Drawing B shows how to install the HGE41-Alternater in a section of trackage which can also be used for normal operation. By installing a Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) switch in to the wiring circuit trains can now operate in the reversing section normally without the automatic reversing of the train. For this section to operate the power controlling the board is turned off and the DPDT switch to track is changed and normal train operation can be conducted . Drawing B:
